Agapet Ier

Saint Agapet Ier , born with Rome, pope of May 13rd 535 at May 22nd 536.

It went to Constantinople to try to reconcile Théodat, king goth, with Justinien. It benefitted from its presence in Constantinople to take care of the application of the decrees of the Chalcedony council and deposited Anthime, patriarch Eutychien. He crowned itself - single fact in the history of the Church - the new bishop of Constantinople, the patriarch Menas.

He dies during his stay in Constantinople. It is honoured on September 20th. The Church of the East also regards it as a saint.
