Agamura persica
This gecko night is very fine of aspect. The legs are
long and thin, with thin and very isolated fingers.
tail is very fine, and the eyes are enough proéminents.
The colors are in tons of sometimes rosy gray, with transverse bands
more or less clear.
Geographical distribution
One finds these geckos in the arid areas of Iran, of Iraq and of Afghanistan, where they live on the sandy grounds and hide during the day under rocks.
Subspecies
No known subspecies to date.
Climatic parameters
These geckos lives in very hot zones, where the temperature can exceed the 35°C, even 40°C. They remain on the other hand hidden the day in fresher endrois, in lower part of 30°C.
The temperature falls the night to go down in the neighborhoods from 20 to 25°C.
The winter is relatively short, and the temperatures fall in lower part of 30°C the day, and in lower part of 20°C the night.
The Hygrométrie is weak, not exceeding the 40%, but can be locally higher, in particular with the shelters of the rocks.
Breeding in captivity
One meets this species in Terrariophilie. A Terrarium of type the arid and terrestrial of at least 60cm length and 40cm of large.
To envisage a Substrate containing lime sand, and a strong lighting as well as an air heating (standard ceramic spot) puissant.
To envisage hiding-places on the ground (barks, stackings of rocks if those are well fixed and are not likely to crush the animals) and possibly some plants nonprickly which would survive under these conditions extrèmes.
A water cup is the welcome and makes it possible to maintain a minimum of moisture, even if these geckos very seldom drinks this way.
Food
These animals are Insectivore S and consume the majority of the Insecte S of adapted size.
Being well adapted to the arid mediums, this species almost does not drink and finds water in the insects which it consumes. It can sometimes drink the goutellettes water which settle on the vegetation.
Behavior
Maturity
These reptile S is in age to reproduce around one year, sometimes a year and half. To maturity, these geckos presents kinds of “pockets” to the junction of the body and legs back, containing reserves of grease.
Sexage
The pockets of grease (see above) are developed definitely in the males.
Reproduction
The reproduction occurs with the return of the hot season. After coupling the female is ready to lay at the end of approximately a month.
Layings
The females lay four, five, sometimes six times during the season, layings separated by two to three weeks. They can preserve Sperme male a certain time, with the result that eggs can be laid even in the absence of recent reproduction.
Incubation
The eggs incubate under the climatic conditions of the hot season, knowing that they are with the shelters, and thus profit from higher temperature moderate and a hygroscopy (relative with the local climate).
According to the temperature incubation can last from two to three months. It should be noted that the longer incubation is and the more vigorous the small ones are born large and.
The small ones
The small ones are a miniature counterpart of the adults, but with more marked colors, drawing on the marron.
They nourish very small insects.
Diseases
Like the majority of the geckos, this species needs Calcium, and particularly the females in period of gestation and the small ones in phase of croissance.
It happens that these animals consume lime sand to get what them food provided to them not.
