After the banquet is a novel of Yukio Mishima writes in 1960 and published in France in 1965.

Summary

Kazu is owner of a great restaurant of Tokyo, it accommodates at it the elite of the country and meets, at the time of a meeting of former diplomats, Noguchi, a former ambassador whose strength of character and idealism allure it immediately. Whereas she always refused to marry, she finishes, at 50 years spent by marrying Noburu. For Kazu, this union is a parade against loneliness and the lapse of memory postmortem , it from now on is ensured to have a place in a tomb family relatively prestigious.

Discreetly encouraged by his wife, Noburu launches out in the political life into practice to put the ideas progressists which it has cultivated for a few years. It is presented to the prefectoral elections under the label reformist. Kazu is invested with enthusiasm in the electoral campaign of her husband. She spends of the million yens to buy posters and derivative products with the effigy of her husband, she animates meetings and does not hesitate to use - successfully its origins popular to touch the heart of the voters. In spite of the mortgage of its restaurant, financial means deployed at the time of the countryside appears insufficient vis-a-vis the preserving road roller and Noburu east demolishes.
