Afrika Bambaataa , of its true name Kevin Donovan , born the October 4th 1960 with New York, is an American musician which took an active part in the development of the Hip-Hop. He is the creator of the Zulu Nation.
Biography
He is one of the pillars most solid of the temple of this culture. DJ, philosopher and organizer of events, its true name Kevin Donovan, it holds its birth date, and its age secrecies but it seems that he was born on June 17th, 1957 under a still unknown name to date. It is resulting from the cities of Bronx River in New York. Teenager, it benefitted from a certain reputation. Bambaataa in Zulu means " Leader affectueux". It began like member from the legendary gang from the Black Spades. Following the death of his/her Soulski cousin at the time of a shooting against the police force, Bam created The Organization an association currently known under the name of Universal Zulu Nation. The goal of Zulus was to federate the gangs and to make them evolve/move in a positive and non-violent way by the practice of Mc-ing, DeeJaying, the dance and the graffiti. The dogmas of Zulus were retranscribed in the form of named lesson " Lessons" infinities; (Infinite Lessons), a document which details the history and the philosophy of the Zulu Nation. These rules reveal the philosophical side of Bambaataa.Bam was the leader of Zulu Nation in the Seventies and Eighties; Since 1990, there is a world council which controls the Universal Zulu Nation. Among them, one finds doctors, lawyers, judges and artists like Of the Drunk person, Queen Latifah, Grandmaster Flash, George Clinton, PhazyPhaz and well of others still.
Bam which was the DJ of the district and which had a monstrous sound system, became acquainted with several friends whose Mr.Biggs, Pow Wow, G.L.O.B.E., DJ Jazzy Jay and EZ LG and formed the group Soul Sonic Force. They left their first individual Zulu Nation Throwdown in 1980.
Their larger hit will arrive in 1982 with Planet Rock which Marie scansions of grating with samples pieces Trans-Europe Express train and Numbers of Kraftwerk. Planet Rock is traditionally regarded as the first piece of Electro (abbreviation of Electro-funk).
Its round with the beginning of the year 1980 made it possible to diffuse the Hip-Hop and Zulu Nation in Europe.
It continues, since, its unrestrained career by offering exclusivenesses to us such as its live with James Brown and by producing the great names in the Hip-hop American and French.
