African Bank of development

The African Banque of development (BAD) is a multinational bank of development created in 1964. 53 African countries are members and it is supported by 24 European countries, American and Asian south and north.
It is charged to promote economic development and the social progress in the African countries. Its seat is with Abidjan, in Ivory Coast. The activities of the BAD were relocated temporarily with Tunis (Tunisia) since September 2003, after the disorders generated in Ivory Coast by the coup attempt of state of 2002.
The group of the African Bank of development includes/understands also the African Fond for the development, creates in 1972, and the Nigeria Trust Fund (NTF), created by the Nigeria in 1976.
The new president of the Bank, the Rwandan Donald Kaberuka, was elected the July 21st 2005. He was until there the Minister for Finance of the Rwanda. He starts a five years mandate. Its predecessor was Omar Kabbaj which directed the BAD between 1995 and 2005.
