In the Egyptian Mythology, Montou ( mntw ) or Monthou or Mentou or Month are God of the antique town of Hermonthis (names Thèbes), related to the origin with the sun-worship and god falcon of Thèbes. It is represented like a man with head of falcon capped with two large feathers, a solar disk and two uræus.

At the time of the kings, included it in their titulature (the Montouhotep " Montou is satisfait") and placed themselves thus directly under its protection.

With the Low time the bull crowned Boukhis will be associated for him.

Its place of worship is the area thebaine where several sanctuaries are devoted to him:

  • the temple of Erment where it has for parèdre the goddess Djenenet
  • the temple of Tôd where it is associated in triad with the goddesses Rattaouy (or Tjenenet) and Iounyt,
  • the northern temple of Karnak
  • the temple of Médamoud, connected to the precedent by a channel.

One made the husband of a solar divinity of them, " the sun female of the two grounds ". Montou was venerated in Thèbes as a god of the war and a guard of the weapons. It especially was very popular at the time of the wars of reunification at the end of the {{intermediate Ire}} period, before being isolated by Amon. Nevertheless, there will remain an important divinity in military accounts of campaigns, like the " bulletin of the battle of Kadesh ".
