Afganistán

Arlette Laguiller (born the March 18th 1940) is a political woman French of Extreme left, pertaining to the movement Workers' struggle. It was the first woman to present to the French presidential election and has the record of the number of candidatures, with six consecutive, of 1974 to 2007.

Family

Arlette Yvonne Laguiller was born the March 18th 1940 with Paris, in a working family of the Lilas marked by the Second world war and the Bombardement S. His/her mother, Catholique, make him make her First communion. Political career

In 1960, it is 20 years old and takes part in its first action, against the Guerre of Algeria. It adheres to PSU before joining the organization trotskist working Voix . It militates with the CGT in the Années 1960 and is isolated for its ideas Révolution naires. After the Revolt coed and the General strike of May-June 1968, organizations of Extreme left whose working Voix is dissolved by decree of the general De Gaulle. It takes part in the formation of Workers' struggle on June 26th 1968 then it is selected at 33 years to be about it the spokesperson main road with the French legislative elections of 1973.

The following year bursts the strike which from February to April will extend to all the Banking environment. In the elections, it defends a programme of defense of the interests of the work world. In 1995, it defended what it called “program emergency” for workers, which contained claims as the prohibition of the Licenciement S in the companies which make Bénéfice S, and the lifting of the bank secrecy and commercial. She affirmed that the workers could “count neither on the line, openly with the service of the large-scale employers, nor on the left, hypocritically servile towards him”.

In the French presidential elections of 2007, it defends a programme of defense of the workers which stresses the three problems that it considers vital for the “work world”: housing, employment and wages. She defends the need for taking on the profits of the companies to create jobs, to increase the wages and to finance social housing construction.

European Deputy of 1999 with 2004, its interventions with the the European Parliament was turned against the capitalist mechanisms and the law of the market, against the reduction in the Salaire S and the Social minimums. It belonged to the group European Unified left/Scandinavian green Gauche (GUE/NGL) and was to it Member of the Commission of employment and the social affairs, member substitute for the commission of development and the co-operation, and member substitute for the delegation at mixed parliamentary commission UE- Lithuania.

For the second round of May 19th, 1974 then of May 10th, 1981 which saw the victory of François Mitterrand, it invited the workers to vote for this one “without reserves but without illusion”, “by solidarity with the million left voters, of workers, common peoples, who wished to put an end to years and years of right-wing policy capacity and which hoped for much the left”. In 1988 and 1995, it does not give a call to vote to the second turn “not to guarantee the policy of the left governments”, estimating that the left-wing policies to the government “had sufficiently shown that the workers did not have anything to await Socialist party with the capacity”. In 2002, it refuses to invite to vote for Jacques Chirac against Jean-Marie Le Pen at the time of the second turn of the presidential election. In 2007, it will invite to support Ségolène Royal as of the evening of the first turn.

  • 1974, First woman candidate with the presidential election, it obtains 595  247  voice (2,33% of the votes).
  • 1979, candidate with the European elections, chief candidate LO/LCR which obtains 3,09% of the votes.
  • 1981, candidate with the presidential election, it obtains 668  057  voice (2,30% of the votes).
  • 1988, candidate with the presidential election, it obtains 1,99% of the votes.
  • 1995, candidate with the presidential election, it obtains 5,3% of the votes.
  • 1995 - 2001: Municipal adviser of the Lilac (Seine-Saint-Denis)
  • 1998 - 2004, regional adviser of Ile-de-France.
  • 1999 - 2004, appointed European.
  • April 21st 2002, candidate with the presidential election, it obtains 5,72% of the votes and is placed in fifth position on the 16 candidates present at this first turn.
  • 2004, candidate on list LO-LCR with the European elections (beaten)
  • the December 5th 2005, Arlette Laguiller declares that its candidature for the presidential election of 2007 should be the last and that a militant young person of Workers' struggle will succeed the following time to him. According to it, “a fish pond of young women can play this part”.
  • 2007, candidate with the presidential election, it obtains only 1,33% of the votes, its worse score.

Anecdote

  • Alain Souchon dedicated a song to him which bears its name Arlette Laguiller . He then stated not to more want to interpret it since the second tower of presidential the 2002, following the refusal of Arlette Laguiller to invite to vote for Jacques Chirac to make stopping with Jean-Marie Le Pen.
