Affimet
Affimet was a subsidiary company of Pechiney specialized in the refining of the Aluminum and the production of alloys of moulding of the second fusion, sold in 2007 at the British company Recovco.
Its principal industrial site is with Compiegne (Oise). Created in 1966, it produces alloys of moulding of the second fusion, which are sold primarily at the foundries, suppliers of auto industry. An investment carried out in 1998 made it possible Affimet to also produce alloys of moulding of the first fusion.
The aluminum waste is bought on the market, is controlled, sorted, then melted in rotary smelters to salt bath. The molten metal is then versed in smelters, in which it is made in conformity with the standards of chemical composition requested by the customers. The aluminum alloys of the second fusion thus obtained are then delivered either in liquid form, dispatched at the customer in pockets of transport, or in the form of ingots.
The alloys of aluminum moulding of the first fusion are obtained by remelting pure aluminum ingots, coming directly from factories of electrolysis.
History
The activity of refining starts in 1966, under the name of Affifrance. In 1971, Affifrance amalgamates with the Pennaroya site with Dammarie-the-Lily, to become Affimet. In 1983, the Group Pechiney repurchases in Pennaroya the 40% which it held and gathers all the industrial activities in Compiegne.
