Afféagement
The afféagement is a feudal right which consists in dismembering a Fief by withdrawing grounds to him whose taker must pay the Cens in kind or silver.
This right allows at the time of great agricultural progress of the 18th century to emphasize the waste lands. The farm prices being then raised, the operation are of a positive ratio. The peasants are very hostile there because they lose grounds thus where they practice the common grazing land; on the other hand the middle-class men are taking with their farmers or their sharecroppers.
