Aeromagnetism

aeromagnetism is one of the methods of the type Géophysique used since the end of the Second world war for mining exploration and oil.

Traditionally l aeromagnetism used in the field of oil exploration for thus inférer depth of a sedimentary Basin and also to identify the structures in the base located under this basin; what brought many technological breakthroughs to the four last decades courses from where the development of sensors faster, more sensitive, recording of the data under digital form, also the compensation system of the effect of the plane and finally, localization by GPS.

Progressively of the years there were an evolution of the parameters of liftings and an improvement of the quality of the data. In certain studies, the resolution of the data is much higher although short wavelengths associated with not very major sources correspondent is with Faille S, that is to say with an increase in the magnetite contents in certain sedimentary beds. Fortunately recent techniques of data processing like the slope of the magnetic Gradient helping to make aeromagnetic method a tool renewed for oil exploration.

With other methods of the Geophysical type, like the Magnetism with the use of the Magnetometer to Proton S, the electromagnetism, this method Géophysique supplements the methods previously used on the level of the data. This method can be used in structural Géologie and thus can supplement with the data a Geological map.

Applications

This method is jointly used with the Magnétisme. The presence of a magnetic Susceptibilité high of the rocks produces an induced magnetic field caused by the terrestrial Magnetic field. The formed geological structures of elements ferromagnésien S induce an anomaly Magnétique which can be highlighted by measurements in total field realized on the ground with the use of a Magnétomètre. Very quickly, from broad zones were thus raised on the ground by only one person, even two. On an aircraft, the equipment makes it possible to visualize more important zones which will be measured, from where method of l aeromagnetism which is the second method Géophysique used after the method Sismique
