Aerobatics
The aerobatics is an activity of leisure and competition consisting in using a Aéronef to carry out figures of stunt-flying, i.e. air operations leaving the ordinary one.
The various figures are composed of a combination of elementary operations following one another: buckle, barrel, gimlet, etc In competition, a free program, a known imposed program, and unknown programs, will be noted by judges on the quality of the realization and conformity with the figures envisaged.
This discipline requires extremely solid and manoeuvrable planes. The acrobats use planes especially designed for flights under load factors raised, in reversed flight (on the back), on vertical trajectories (in rise or descent), etc One will be able to quote as example the French plane of the originator Mudry, the CAPE 10, the family of the CAPE 230 as well as the EXTRA 300, a plane developed in 1995 for this activity. The plane of the most famous acrobatics is undoubtedly the special Pitts. This lifting biplane with gained more competitions than any other plane and dominated the world of the competition in the years 1960 and 1970.
During his formation, a pilot of stunt-flying passes a “first cycle”, then a “second cycle”. The first cycle (or flies positive) makes it possible to carry out basic figures under load factors positive except for the turns back. The figures of bases are described in the following paragraph. The second cycle (or flies advanced and negative) makes it possible to carry out all the complex figures and under indexed negative accelerations. It emerges naturally to the top level where the best pilots create themselves of the increasingly complex and spectacular figures.
Many a civil and military lifting Patrouilles exists in various countries.
Basic figures
- Loop
- Barrel
- Gimlet
- Immelman
- Inversion (aviation)
- Started
- Reversal (aviation)
- normal Re-establishment
- Re-establishment fallen
- Turn back
The aerobatics are codified in a certain number of basic figures. The sequences of those, in one or the other direction, left or right-hand side, allow quasi infinite alternatives.
Advanced figures
- Gone up back
- Passage by before
