Aermacchi M-311

The Aermacchi M-311 is a two-seater of military training of beginning, developed starting from SIAI Marchetti S.211 to supplement the Aermacchi M-346 of advanced drive.

Compared to SIAI Marchetti S.211 the aerodynamic modifications relate to new salmons of aerofoil, a modification of the partitions of wing, the appearance of ventral skittles. The landing structure and gear were reinforced to authorize load factors of +7g with -3,5g to 3100 kg in smooth configuration on takeoff. The engine Pratt & Whitney Canada JT15D-5C of 1450 kgp has a higher power of 30%. The avionics is entirely re-examined: Multifunction screens, Head-up Display with before with reproduction at the back station, inertial platform GPS, 2 trip computers to simulate the missions. The stress was also laid on the maintenance, facilitated by a modification of the trap doors of access, the installation of an autonomous oxygen generator (OBOGS),… in order to improve the availability of the apparatus.

A demonstrator systems accomplished its first flight on June 1st, 2005. They are in fact one the two prototypes S.211A become useless after the Raytheon/Pilatus T-6 Texan II gained the Joint Primary Aircraft Training System (JPATS).

The figures opposite are given on a purely provisional basis and answer the development model. ----
