Aerated water

The aerated water or semi-sparkling or gasified is a mineral Water to which one or more Gaz was added. According to the nature of water, a more or less important gas addition is necessary. As for many scientific discoveries, there is a confusion for which was the creator. The person who is usually credited to have created this type of water is Joseph Priestley in 1796. However the Swedish chemistry teacher Torbern Bergman had already succeeded in 1771, especially to make economies when it was sick. Both tried to imitate the effervescent effect of the underground sources, and it was thought that it was favorable to health. It is not known if Joseph Priestley knew work of Torbern Bergman.

Currently, this type of water is obtained while passing from the Carbon dioxide under pressure through water. That increases the Solubilité, i.e. there is more dissolved CO2 than under the ordinary atmospheric pressure. When the pressure is reduced by opening the bottle, the gas leaves the mixture, forming the characteristic bubbles.
