Aeluroscalabotes felinus
This Species Aeluroscalabotes felinus , only representing of sound kind and its Subfamily, is of color chestnut-ocher with white points. The lower part of the head is also blanc.
Its name of gecko cat (translation of the name running English Cat Gecko ) comes from its cat-like step and owing to the fact that he sleeps by rolling up his queue.
This gecko is mainly night, and although Arboricole, it does not have an adhesive pelotte under the legs (Seta) contrary to much of his/her cousins.
It uses rather its prehensile tail to help itself, like its legs equipped with opposable and retractable claws.
It is a gecko considered as primitive, and close to the first geckos appeared, according to some Fossile S found.
Geographical distribution
One meets this species in the south-east of the Asia, in Indonesia, with Singapore, the south of the Thailand… where he lives in the wet forests and relatively fraiches.
Subspecies
-
Aeluroscalabotes felinus felinus , (Günther, 1864)
- Aeluroscalabotes felinus multituberculatus , (Kopstein, 1927)
This article corresponds mainly to the nominal subspecies Aeluroscalabotes felinus felinus , the most described.
Climatic parameters
This reptile lives in a medium where the temperature varies between 20 and 25°C. The Hygrométrie is from 60 to 80%, with points with 90%. There is little difference the night, the temperature remaining in the neighborhoods of 20°C, sometimes a little less.
Breeding in captivity
This animal meets little in Terrariophilie, because it is difficult to find and is regarded as relatively delicate raising, and especially reproducing.
Food
It is a Insectivore which consumes a broad variety of Insecte S of adapted size.
Behavior
They are solitary and quiet animals.
Maturity
Sexage
The adult males are smaller than the females (in any case for the nominal subspecies). The first reach the 12 cm whereas the females can exceed the 16 cm.

Diseases
It seems that it is a gecko very sensitive to the Stress. In captivity, handling is to be avoided as much as possible.
The hygroscopy is also a vital element, and these animals seem to develop various disorders if this one deviates their needs.
