Aegukga
Aegukga (애국가, 愛國歌) is the national anthem of the République of Korea.
The title literally means love song for the country . The words were written towards the end of the XIXe century by Yun Chi-Ho, a politician, or per annum Chang-Ho, an independence leader. At the beginning, Aegukga was sung on the Scottish popular air Auld Lang Syne. During the Japanese colonial reign (1910-1945), the song was prohibited, but the Koreans of overseas continued to sing it, expressing their desire of national independence. In 1937, Ahn Eak-tae, a Korean musician internationally known, established in Spain, composed the music of Aegukga . Its work was officially adopted by the temporary government of Korea (1919-1945) with Shanghai, China. Aegukga was sung with a ceremony celebrating the foundation of the Republic of Korea the August 15th 1948.
However, it forever officially adopted by the government, and continuous to be used as semi-official anthem.
In March 2005, the widow of the type-setter of the national anthem gave up her royalties and in fact gift to the South Korean government (source: ministry for the Culture and Tourism).

-
Until is drained the Eastern sea, (and) that wears the Paektu mount,
- That the sky takes care on our country forever! How Korea lives!
- .
- As the armoured pine of the mount Nam
- Which assembles the imperturbable guard
- In the wind and the cold, that our will is without fault!
- .
- That the radiant moon of autumn
- On the vault of heaven, crystalline and of a blue without clouds
- Is our heart, inébranlable, faithful and true.
- .
- With this will and this spirit, this honesty and this force
- Let us like it, in the sorrow and the joy, it our fatherland cherished!
Refrain:
- Of the hibiscus as far as the eye can see, the rivers and the splendid mountains
- Protected by its people, Which Korea lives forever!
