Adyton

The adyton (in old Greek τὸ ἄδυτον, literally “place which one cannot enter”) is a term of architecture who indicates in a Greek Temple antique a reserved space with certain functions, most of the time religious. It is in general a part located either behind about the Naos, or encased in the naos itself, but which can also be underground (one will speak then about Crypte) or on the contrary elevated on podium.
