Advisory Committee one Antarctic Names

LAdvisory Committee one Antarctic Names (ACAN gold US-ACAN), in French, Comité of American council for the names in the Antarctic is a committee of L United States Board one Geographic Names , the American Office of the geographical naming, responsible for the recommendation of the place names in the Antarctic. The United States not recognizing any territorial border in the Antarctic, the ACAN, according to them, can thus give names to all the topographic places on the whole of the Continent. Nevertheless a consultation of the other national nomenclatures takes place when it is suitable.

The ACAN published a policy of naming, based on the priority of application, the use of the term more adapted and the extensions of the names of use when the latter are well established.
