Advent City
Advent city is an old city of the Svalbard.
At the end of the 18th century, one discovers coal in the archipelago of the Svalbard, more precisely with the Spitzberg, on banks of the Isfjorden. Many mines are opened, by tens all along the coasts of the fjord. To place the employees, a company decides to assemble a true city, near one of the sites of extraction. Thus in 1904, the small town of Advent city is born, on northern bank of the Adventfjorden, from where it holds its name. Creation in 1906 of Longyearbyen, just on other side of the fjord, and the end of mining production very quickly carried the city at its end. Advent city became a phantom Ville.
