Adrien Dubouché
Adrien Dubouché (born in 1818 with Jarnac; died in 1881 with Limoges) is a business man and art lover whose name was given to the Museum Adrien Dubouché of Limoges in thanks of its generous patronage.
Biography
Adrien Dubouché was born in 1818 in Limoges. After having married Ermance Bisquit, it entered the company of his father-in-law. Large art lover, it devoted his spare time to the Céramique S, constant in that by the Parisian mediums which it attended.
He was named in 1865 director of the museum of Limoges and made since 1866 a gift of almost 400 objects to this museum. In 1868, it created a school of art, which it installed in the buildings of the museum so that the artists can take as a starting point the collections which were exposed there. With died of Albert Jacquemart, specialist in Eastern ceramics and its friend, it repurchased his collection and made gift with the museum of it, thus bringing some 600 parts to him. At the request of the town of Limoges which wished to thank it for a so generous gesture, the Council of State decided that the museum would bear its name. Then Adrien Dubouché raised its gifts with more than 4000 objects while repurchasing for the museum in 1880 the collection of Paul Gasnault.
Of died of Adrien Dubouché, in 1881, the town of Limoges required and obtained that a law made museum and school, which had become great extensive, nationals establishment. Its name was also given to a street and a station of bus of Limoges.
