Adomnan

Adomnan born towards 624 died in 704. 9th abbot of Iona of 679 with 704

Ninth abbot of Iona, it is known for his very important role in the quarrel of Easter which opposed the Christians of Ireland and the Eglise of Rome as for the drafting in the last decade of the Life century of the Life of Columba Saint which recalls the life of the monk founder of the headlight of Christendom in British Isles, Saint Colomba (or Columba or Columb Cille, the " dove of Ciel") a little more than one century before (521 - 563 - 597).

Adomnan is also the author of the " Cain Adamnain " or " Lex Innocentium " intended to ensure protection in the event of conflicts, of the women of the children and clergy. It obtained the ratification of this text by 40 bishops or Irish abbots and of 51 king provincial or tribal of Ireland and Scotland to the synod of Birr in 697 ( Annales of Ulster ).

He died in 704 in his 77 éme ( Annales of Ulster ). Its festival is the September 23rd.
