Biography

It was influenced at the same time by Eugene Delacroix, works of the Louvre and the atmosphere of Provence - more than by the voyages in the East which it did not make. The Marseilles painters such as Brest or Chataud communicate to him in their works their impressions of voyage, and perhaps inspire to him its scenes of Harem and its entries of Mosquée S. Its key daring, pasted is close to that of Narcisse Diaz or Felix Ziem of which it followed the courses.

In 1909, a monument was set up on its behalf in the town of Marseilles. It was the Sculpteur Auguste Carli which carried out work. It was held on the Cours of the Chapter until the beginning of the Années 1970 where work of the subway forced to transfer the monument to the Parc Chanot.
