Adolphe Hanoteau

Louis Joseph Adolphe Charles-Constancy Hanoteau (Decize June 12th 1814 - Decize April 17th 1897) is a Général French author of studies on the Kabyles. It is useful in the genius. After a few last years in metropolis, it is affected in 1845 as captain with the direction of the genius of Algeria. Detached in 1846 at the central service of the Arab businesses, it follows the Changarnier general to Paris at the time of the events of 1848 and finds Algeria in 1853. It is successively: chief of the Arab office of Médéah (1853), assistant of the political office in Algiers (1854), higher commander of the circles of Drah el Mizan (1859) and of Extremely-Napoleon (Extremely-National) (1860), director of the Arab businesses of the division of Algiers (1862), colonel attached to the political office (1865) and, again, higher commander of the circle of Extremely-Napoleon (1866). Brigadier general in 1870, it orders the subdiv. milit. of Dellys, is put of availability in 1871, receives in 1873 the command of the subdiv. the Hollow one and in 1874, that of the subdiv. of Orleansville. Placed in the section of reserve in 1876, it is allowed with the retirement in 1878. It devotes the essence of its activity to the study of the language, manners and the institutions kabyles. In 1873, it is named member corresponding to the Academy of the inscriptions and the humanities
