Adolphe Goaziou

Adolphe Goaziou (Adolphe Yves Marie Goaziou), born the April 16th 1887 with Morlaix (department of the Finistere), dead the September 18th 1953 with Quimper, was a publisher-bookseller and resistant.

After secondary studies with Saint-Pol.-of-Leon, Adolphe Goaziou continues academic works with the Sorbonne where it passes a license of Philosophie. Of return in Brittany in the Years 1910, it takes part in the creation of an Agricultural cooperative with Saint-pol. of Leon “the Breton one” who gathers potato producers. Mobilized at the beginning of the First World War, it is wounded in 1916.

It settles with Quimper in 1919 where it opens a bookstore and begins a work from editor, activity which specializes in the regionalistic field. Opposed to the principle of autonomy of Brittany, it is caught of it in 1940 with nationalist weekly magazine the Breton Hour while expressing against its diffusers. It is also against the Celtic foundation of Institut of Brittany, which sees the day the October 20th 1941 at the instigation of Leo Weisgerber, like against the reform of the Orthographe of Breton the. Goaziou is member of the “Sillon”, catholic movement open on the working world, created by Marc Sangnier; he is president of the Trade union of the religious bookstore and the Trade union of the booksellers of France. He is also engaged in the Work of the shelter of the sailors.

Engaged in the resistance during the Second world war, he is denounced and stopped by the Gestapo in October 1943 and is released in April 1944, for lack of evidence. A report/ratio of the Police inspectors Riand and Goff dated December 5th, 1943 reports the maintenance which they had with François-Taldir Jaffrenou. This last would have blamed in front of these Adolphe civils servant Goaziou but also Fanch Gourvil, showing them to be " chiefs of the movement in bretagne" " amis" from England: " a grouping financed by the intelligence service and charged with collecting information of a military nature and politique". A charge thus of an extreme gravity. It is not certain that this report/ratio was transmitted to the German authorities. In April 1944, Adolphe Goaziou is named president of the Departmental committee of release, for Finistere. It takes part in the creation of Ouest-France , which makes following the West-Flash , interdict with the Libération for Collaboration. It creates a monthly review, Nouvelle Review of Brittany which will appear of 1947 to 1953.
