Adolphe Chéron
Adolphe Chéron (1873 - 1951) is a French politician. He was appointed radical of the Seine (1919 - 1936) and member of the government, in load of physical education (1933 - 1934).
Radical deputy
Adolphe Chéron was born on March 27th 1873 with Levallois-Perret (then in the the Seine, today in the Hauts-de-Seine) and died on November 27th 1951 with Saint-Maur-of-Ditches (then in the the Seine, today in the the Valley-of-Marne).
He is elected appointed fourth district of Sceaux (Saint-Maur-of-Ditches, Creteil, Joinville-le-Pont, Bonneuil-sur-Marne) on November 16th 1919 and sits in the group of the Radical party and radical socialist.
He is re-elected on April 29th 1928 like radical independent and seat in the group of the Radical left.
May 1st 1932, it is re-elected as of the first turn (Radical left) and will enter to the government.
It does not rejoin the Popular front and presents on April 26th 1936 like independent radical. It is beaten with the second turn by the Communist André Parsal (PCF).
Member of the government in charge of Physical education
President of the Union of the companies of physical education and military preparation, Adolphe Chéron is the specialist in these questions to the House of Commons.
He enters to the government on November 26th 1933 as under-secretary of State to the minister of education main road, in charge of physical education, in the government of Camille Chautemps (radical socialist). He remains there until the fall of the ministry, on January 29th 1934. He conceives physical education like a means of preparing young people able to make good soldiers.
Several sporting installations bear its name, like the Stade Adolphe Chéron, principal site for the football and the athletics of the town of Saint-Maur-of-Ditches (the Valley-of-Marne) or the stage and gymnasium Adolphe Cheron (the Perreux-on-Marne).
The name of Adolphe Chéron is also attached to a booklet of kitchen, which was intended to the soldiers, in which one found in particular the receipt of military gratin, popular called “missed”.
