Adolphe Brongniart

Adolphe Theodore Brongniart is a botanist French, born the January 14th 1801 with Paris, dead the February 18th 1876. It is wire of the naturalist Alexandre Brongniart and grandson of the architect Alexandre Theodore Brongniart.
Biography
After its doctorate in Medicine, in 1826, it joins together the elements of its first report while travelling with his/her father.Brongniart studies the relations between disappeared and existing species of Plante S, which is worth to him the nickname of “father of the Paléobotanique”. In 1827, it publishes the first report on the development of the Pollen S. Its principal work is a Histoire of the fossil plants (1828 - 1837), which constituted the paleontology of the plants, as Georges Cuvier constituted that of the animals. He proposes a classification of the Angiosperme S.
In 1826, it publishes a report on the development of the vegetable embryo which is worth to him the following year the Grand Prix of experimental physiology of the Academy of Science.
In 1833, it obtains the botanical pulpit of to the natural history museum within the national Muséum of natural history of Paris. Into 1857, this pulpit is transformed into pulpit of botanical and vegetable physiology , then in 1874, in botanical pulpit of , organography and vegetable physiology . Adolphe Brongniart will be replaced there, with his death, by Philippe Van Tieghem (1839-1914).
In 1834, it is elected member of the Academy of Science where it succeeds Rene Desfontaines.
It founds the Annales natural science in 1824 with his brothers-in-law Jean Victoire Audouin and Jean-Baptiste Dumas. It receives the Médaille Wollaston in 1841 and becomes president of the Academy of Science in 1847. In 1854, it founds the botanical Société of France, from which he is the first president. During the Second Empire, it is named general inspector of higher education for sciences.
