Adolphe Beaufrère
Adolphe Beaufrère , born the March 24th 1876 with Quimperlé (department of the Finistere) and dead the February 16th 1960 with Larmor-Beach (Morbihan), is a French painter and engraver. Most of its work is inspired by the Brittany.
Biography
In 1894, he is the pupil of Gustave Moreau with the École of decorative arts of Paris and, in 1897, he enters to the École of the fine arts. In addition to the Painting, it is particularly interested by the Gravure and supplements its formation in the workshop of Fernand Cormon. Its first exposure goes back to 1898, with the Living room. In 1911, a purse enables him to travel in Algérie, Italy and Spain. During the First World War, it is affected in the infantry. In 1922, it decides to settle definitively with Larmor-Beach. It uses primarily the Eau-forte and the Pointe dries, while making some attempts at engraving on wood.In 1949, it illustrates Forêt Close to Maurice Genevoix (the contemporary Book, 1949).
He collaborates in the book Almanach, book of worms of Emile Verhaeren (Company of Saint-Éloy, 1951). He also takes part in the series of books Châteaux of Ile-de-France of Ernest de Ganay (Company of Saint-Éloy, 1957), and in Vieilles Abbeys of Ile-de-France of Louis Réau (Company of Saint-Éloy, 1955) with the illustrators Pierre-Paul Lemagny, Henry Cheffer, Fernand Hertenberger, André Valhl, Aymar de Lézardière, Paul Baudier, Paul Adrien Bouroux, Charles Hallo, Rene Cottet, Alain Decaris, Camille Josso, Maurice Victor Achener.

- the museum of Bridge-Swallow-hole devoted to him an exposure from June 25th to September 26th 2005;
- In Brittany, at least nine streets bear its name, according to the Names which made the history of Brittany , 1997.
