Adolphe Assi

Adolphe Assi was born with Roubaix in 1841 and died in Noumea (New Caledonia) in 1886. It is a personality of the Commune of Paris

This garage hand engages like volunteer in the army of the Second Empire. But it deserted to join the fight of Joseph Garibaldi for the unification of Italy. Returned to France, it settles with the Creusot (about 1868) where, in January 1870, it takes part in the strikes with the factories Schneider. He then is laid off, then stopped on May 1st after a recovery without success of the strike. He is judged with the third lawsuit of the International association of the workers.

During the head office of Paris by the Germans (September 1870 - March 1871), he is lieutenant with the 192e battalion of the National guard, and belonged to the Central committee of the National guard. March 17th, he is elected ordering 67e battalion and the March 19th, as colonel he becomes governor of the Town hall of Paris. March 26th he is elected with the Conseil of the Commune by XIe district. Its supposed ambition is worth to him an arrest of 1st at April 15th. Slackened it is named delegated to manufacture of war. The soldiers versaiilais do it captive on May 21st, and the third council of war condemns it to the deportation in New Caledonia.

After the amnesty of 1880, it remains with Noumea as mechanic fitter.
