Adolph Eduard Grube

Adolph Eduard Grube is a zoologist Polish, born the May 18th 1812 with Königsberg and dead the June 23rd 1880 with Wrocław.

After studies in Collegium Fridericianum, it enters to the university where the senior of the university, Bulack, encourages it to persevere in the study of the Natural history. He is also noticed by Karl Ernst von Baer (1792-1876) which teaches the Comparative anatomy. After having obtained its title of doctor of philosophy in 1836, it returns in Königsberg where is professor assisting in zoology and becomes titular in 1843. It Marie then with Józefiną Schäfer. He teaches, starting from 1844, the zoology with Dorpat (today Tartu in Estonia). Influence teacher, Konstanty Górski (1827-1901), which will teach the zoology with the Academy of medicine and surgery of Warsaw, and Benedykt Ivanovich Dybowski (1833-1930), which will become a large specialist in the Siberia, follows in particular its courses. He succeeds Johann Ludwig Gavenhorst (1777-1857) with the pulpit of zoology of Warsaw, he receives moreover the direction of the museum of zoology and directs the department of zoology of the university. Grube studies almost all the zoological groups and described nearly five hundreds new S and contributes to enrich the collections by the museum. It goes on a journey to Trieste with its former student and friendly Dybowski. He is the author of more than one hundred publications.
