The Amirauté was the civil and criminal jurisdiction of the Ancien Mode.

Its seat was located at Paris near the marble Table of the Law courts, it had large seats near the principal Parliaments of province and the particular seats in the various ports of France.

The Court of Paris had as a name the Admiralty of France, it dealt with the maritime trade in call, the Parliament judged without possibility of recourse the criminal cases.

The Admiralty of France as well as the courts being attached to it were removed by the decree of the constituent Assembly voted the November 6th 1790.
