Admirals of Milwaukee

The Admirals of Milwaukee are a professional frankness from Hockey of the American Ligue of hockey in North America. They belong to western division in the western conference.

History

Admirals gave their first blows of shoe at the time of the winter 1970 as a club amateur known under the name of Milwaukee Wings . They lost their first meets the January 25th against Madison All-Stars on the score of 7-17. Their first victory arrived five days later against Milwaukee Winter Club on the mark of 10-8.

The following year, the team was sold by the owner of origin, Reed Fansher, with a group of investors. One of them, Edwin J. Merar, being owner of a store of domestic apparatuses, the team was famous " Admirals" after a sale of refrigerators of mark to the store of Merar.

At the beginning of the season 1973 - 74, Admirals united the lately created United States Hockey League. Their first season was not brilliant and they finished last of their division with a card of 11 victories, 2 ties and 35 defeats.

Admirals gained championship USHL in 1976, gaining seven consecutive matches in eliminatory series. At the time of the summer which followed, the team was bought by the old advertiser of the Blackhawks of Chicago, Lloyd Pettit and his wife Jane Bradley-Pettit.

In 1977 Admirals joined the international Ligue of hockey when the USHL completely became a league amateur. It took part in 1983 in the finale of the Turner Cut which they lost against Toledo into six matches.

They remained in LIH until the disappearance of this one in 2001 to join, in company of five other teams, the American league of hockey.

They gained their first Coupe Calder in 2004 by beating the Penguins de Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Before attteindre the final, they had to battle seven matches against the Mighty Ducks of Cincinnati to the first turn, then they overcame the Wolves of Chicago in six handles in order to reach the finale of conference where they eliminated the Americans from Rochester 4 parts with 1. Milwaukee then swept Penguins to conquer the Calder Cut. Admirals achieved rare a eliminatory Série where they beat each successive opponent in a match of less than the precedent.

Admirals were acquired in June 2005 by a group of investors, carried out by Harris J. Turer, including Mark Attanasio, owner of the Milwaukee Brewers, team of Base-ball, and Ben Sheets, itself player of baseball. Brewers became it then only sponsor of Admirals which raised a patch of Brewers on their behavior.

Admirals gained their second title of division in LAH in 2006, gaining the title during the last day at the time of a victory against the Griffins de Grand Rapids.

After a difficult victory in 7 matches against the Stars of Iowa in first round, Milwaukee swept successively the Aeros of Houston and the Griffins de Grand Rapids to reach for the second time the final of the Calder Cut. Unfortunately, it were overcome by the Bears de Hershey in 6 parts.

The 2006, Admirals revealed their new logo with the public. This logo brought a radical change in the colors of the team which passed from blue and red to the black, money and blue.

September 1st 2006, Oilers d' Edmonton announced that they wanted to affiliate partially with 5 teams of the LAH for the season 2006-07. The five teams, of which is obviously Admirals, are the Griffins de Grand Rapids, the Stars of Iowa, the Penguins de Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and the Bulldogs of Hamilton. This decision intervened after the advertisement of the old club school of Oilers, the Roadrunners d' Edmonton, to suspend their activities at the beginning of the season 2005-06.

For the 2007-08, Oilers having concluded an agreement with the Falcons de Springfield, Admirals are affiliated only with Predators of Nashville.
