The controversy

Nevertheless, Admiral T is since 2006 in the center of a polemic for the words homophobes which it had in one of its songs: Batty Servant boy Dead Now . This piece written in 2001 during its youth said inter alia " to burn the fags " in Creole. Although it stopped singing this song and in spite of its official statements, various standpoint took place, in particular on behalf of West-Indian associations LGBT which received the support of members of the UMP, of the Socialist party and the Verts. Several concerts of its round thus were cancelled for these reasons in 2007 in Metropolitan France. Force is to note that these associations are baited on Admiral T and this more with an aim of making known itself rather than to defend their cause, it thus decided to attack them.

Interview of Admiral T of the May 5th 2006:

“I against homosexuality, but each one is done what he wants. This piece, I wrote it in the universe dancehall. In this universe, one says that one will burn a sound servant boy for example, but it is right “lyrical”, in the texts, nobody will not burn anybody. But after having seen on television that people have truly flaring of homosexual, I said myself that those who do not know the universe dancehall take these texts with the first degree. Now, I pay more attention so that I say, even if I have my convictions, I pay attention to how I will say them. ”

Official statement of Admiral T of the December 6th 2006:

“I would wish to recall to all, in particular with the artists whom I could meet during my course, which whoever is interested in my career, with my combat, like with my values, knows: I am the first to want that the men and the women, of all cultures, all races, all religions, all convictions and of all manners, can live, free and equal together, in the tolerance. I am opposed to the HOMOPHOBIE and I always was it. I believe that HATRED and VIOLENCE with regard to the homosexual ones do not bring anything good. I ask all those which appreciate my work and my music of going in the same direction. I am and will be always for the respect of the other and the differences. I outlaws the violence and the hatred which will be never in my eyes an answer. Whether one lends no other opinion or ideology to me.”
