Adhesive
An adhesive is a Matériau which makes it possible to make adhere between them objects. According to the nature of the objects to assemble (in particular its aspect of surface: roughness, porosity), one uses various types of adhesives, of which the chemical structure or not will react with the surface of the assembled parts.
Classification
by composition
One classifies the adhesives according to the type of Solvant which they use, according to their chemical composition, and according to the materials which they are ready to connect. The adhesives intended for Wood, paperboard, Papier are relatively thick and little fluids. Their principle of action is based on the deployment of long molecules which will cling to the asperities of the texture of the material support. The solvent used is generally Eau. Once places from there and dry, they can be removed only by mechanical action (scraping, abrasion).
The adhesives intended for plastics enormously vary according to the matters to assemble: the solvent of the adhesive is chosen, according to the case, not to deteriorate the plastic, or on the contrary to locally dissolve it so as to weld the parts.
Certain adhesives are appeared as a couple of products to assemble to obtain the Colle: a base and a reagent. This makes it possible to have a product constantly very fast catch, without being likely to see it taking during the period of storage in the shape of two distinct stable products.

plants
- Starch S
- Starch S
- Dextrin S
- ether S
- Ester S
- Cellulose
- natural gums: Arabic, agar-agar
- Lignin
- algine and Alginate S
The starches and dextrins result from corn, wheat, potatos and rice. They are especially used in the joining of the textiles, of papers, paperboards and wall linings. The cellulose adhesives are used to stick lead, the fabric and paper. The humidified gums allow an adhesion of products, such as for example the stamps and the envelopes.
animals
Among the organic adhesives resulting from animal proteins, one finds the adhesives manufactured by the Collagène, constituting conjunctive fabrics and bones of the mammals, and fish, the adhesive of the blood albumin, used in the industry of plywood, and the adhesive manufactured by casein, protein of milk, employed in the joining of wood and painting.
minerals
- Silicate S
synthetic
- phenol ic
- Resorcin
- Urea - Formol
- Melamine - formol
- Vinyl ic (polyvinyl acetate)
- acrylic S
- Styrene - Butadiene
- Acrylonitrile
- polychloroprene
- poly Isoprene
- polybutadiene
The synthetic adhesives have a field of application wider than the natural adhesives. The majority of the synthetic adhesives form solid Polymère S, chains and networks which stick surfaces durably. Are used they to stick plywood outside, the platings of joineries, the partitions…
The adhesives with resin Thermodurcissable are transformed into solids hard and resistant to heat in the presence of a Catalyseur or under the action of heat. These adhesives are used in construction, to stick the various metal parts of planes, rockets etc…
The resins Thermoplastique S become soft when they are heated. They are used to stick the Bois, the Verre, the rubber, the Métal and materials in Papier.
The adhesives elastomer S, such as the Cement S of the rubber synthetic or natural, are used to fix flexible materials on rigid materials.
