Adelaide of Normandy (1002-1038)

Adelaide of Normandy (or Adeliza or Aélis ) born towards 1002 and died towards 1038, was the girl of the duke Richard II of Normandy (972 - 1026) and of Judith of Brittany (v. 982 - 1017).

Family

She marries Renaud I {{er}} (986-1057), count de Bourgogne and has the following children:
  • Guillaume Ier of Burgundy known as Large the or Bold Head (1020-1087) which succeeds to him his/her father as count de Bourgogne. He is the father of the pope Calixte II.

  • GUI of Brionne or GUI of Burgundy (v. 1025-1069), high at the court of Normandy, which wanted to succeed the Duché of Normandy against his/her cousin Guillaume of Normandy (future William the Conqueror), but had to separate from its counties of Brionne and Vernon in Normandy, after having been with the head of the coalition of the barons de Normandie which was demolished at the time of the Bataille of the Valley-be-Dunes in 1047. One knows that GUI of Brionne found refuge near his/her uncle Geoffroy II of Anjou, count d' Anjou. It tried thereafter to charm the county of Burgundy to his Guillaume brother.
  • Aubrée of Burgundy (1032-1122) which marries in 1051 Robert Guiscard (1020-1085) and had as children Emma de Hauteville (itself mother of Tancrède de Hauteville, hero of the First crusade) and illustrates it Bohémond de Hauteville, prince d' Antioche.
  • Sybille of Burgundy (1035 - v. 1074), which marries in 1056 the duke Henri of Burgundy (small son of the king Robert II of France, wire of the duke Robert Ier of Burgundy and brother of the duke Hugues Ier of Burgundy).
  • Hugues of Burgundy, known as of Superalios (v. 1037 - v. 1086), Viscount of Lons-the-Salt maker, lord de Montmorot, of Navilly and Scey, married to Aldeberge de Scey. They had as wire Thibert I of Montmorot, founder of the house of Montmorot (alias of Montmoret).
  • Falcon or Fouques of Burgundy (with the unknown destiny).
