Adbusters
Adbusters indicates as well the magazine Adbusters magazine as the foundation Adbusters Media Foundation . This one is defined itself as a network of activists, writers and artists who want to innovate in new forms of activism suitable for the era of the information which characterizes our time. This foundation engages in many social or political causes, whose majority are anti-consuméristes (are opposed to the consumption of mass) or anti-capitalists. It promotes countryside-shocks and is on the initiative of the Journée without purchase (the Buy nothing day ), as well as TV turn-off week , the " week without télé".
The word Adbusters itself is Anglo-Saxon: it is composed of " ad" , current English abbreviation for advertizing (publicity) and " buster" , word polysemantic but given here in the direction of " destructor, breaker, éliminateur". In French the term Casseurs of pub is a correct translation.
Adbusters is also a committed magazine and activist, founded by Kalle Lasn and Bill Schmalz, financially supported by its only sales (without publicity nor sponsor). He is published in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, by Adbusters Media Foundation. Its pulling is evaluated with 120.000 specimens.
The Adbusters of various countries gathered in national associations: Breakers of pub in France, Resistance to the advertizing aggression in France and Belgium, Adbusters Norge in Norway, Adbusters Sverige in Sweden and Culture Jammers in Japan.
