Adashino Nenbutsu-ji
The Temple Bouddhique Adashino Nenbutsu-ji (化野念仏寺) is located at Sagano (嵯峨野) in the district of Ukyô-ku (右京区) of Kyôto in Japan, on a hill overhanging the city since the North-West. It is on a place where people of the Period Heian came to bring their deaths. It is characterized by the gathering of approximately eight thousand Buddhist statuettes, symbolizing the spirits of deaths, collected about 1903 and dispersed all around Adashino.
