Adam de Bocfeld
Adam de Bocfeld (v. 1220-1278/1294), medieval philosopher
It is one of the principal Latin commentators, with Thomas d' Aquin and Gilles of Rome, of the texts of Aristote. It was besides for that one of the important references in the university course of the artiens of its time.
Biography
Born in Buckfield in the Northumberland (northern of England), he studied with Oxford. He becomes Master are arts in 1243 and, a score of years later, in 1264, canon of the cathedral of Lincoln. He dies in between 1278 and 1294.
Its work
Its most important work is undoubtedly its comments of the majority of work of physics and metaphysics of Aristote. He thus commented on the Physique and the second book of the Métaphysique . Influenced by Averroès, he commented on égalemen the Traité sky , Of the Heart , Parva Naturalia , Of the generation and corruption and Météorologiques . He also published a comment of the book of Costa Ben Luca, Of Differentiated spiritus and animae ; then the Treated sky of Avicenne and the Liber of causis .
