Adalbert Seitz
Adalbert Seitz is a German Entomologiste , born the February 24th 1860 with Mainz and dead the March 5th 1938 with Darmstadt.
He is the editor of Large-Schmetterlinge der Erde on the macrolepidoptera of the world. This work of sixteen volumes and four supplements is published in German, French and English. The first four volumes are devoted to fauna Paléarctique, volumes 5 to 16 on exotic fauna. The boards colors are carried out in Lithographie into 10 to 14 colors. Seitz hoped to finish its work in 1912, but this wish was unrealistic, the publication is stopped in 1954, several unfinished volumes remaining.
Seitz consults many collections of which those of Lionel Walter Rothschild (1868-1937) and also those of the museums of London, Paris, Francfort-sur-le-Main, Tokyo, HongKong, Australia, etc
