Adalbert Gyrowetz

Adalbert Gyrowetz (or Vojtech Jirovec) is a Austrian Compositeur of origin Bohemia, born with Budejovice (Bohemia) the February 20th 1763 and died with Vienna (Austria) in 1850

Biography

It begins its musical studies with his father, chief of chorus to the cathedral of Budejovice (then Budweis) before joining Prague to study the right there.

He becomes then secretary of the count Franz von Fünfkirchen in Brünn (today Brno) for which he takes part in the concerts of the orchestra. He composes his first symphonies in order to send them to an editor. In 1785, it joined Vienna, where it binds friendship with Mozart which encourages it to persevere in the composition.

From 1786 to 1793, he travels through all Europe where he meets Johann Wolfgang von Goethe with Rome, Ignace Pleyel and Joseph Haydn with London at the time of the concerts Solomon in 1791. With Paris, he discovers that one of its symphonies was allotted to Haydn, whose fame makes it possible to the editors to easily sell works.

He turns over then to Bohemia in 1793. In 1804, it is named at the prestigious station of Choirmaster defect of the theater of the Court of Vienna. It becomes acquainted with Beethoven, of which he becomes the friend.

Work

Its very ignored work was redécouverte by the London Mozart Players in 2000, with the recording of the symphonies opus 6 N° 2 and 3 and opus 12 N° 1. To gallant style, it approaches the symphonies written by Joseph Haydn.

In addition to operas, he also wrote a big number of parts of Chamber music.
