Adalbéron of Rheims (??? - January 23rd 989), archbishop of Rheims of 969 with 988.

It is wire of Gothelon, count de Bidgau and of Methingau, and Oda of Metz, and thus the nephew of Adalbéron of Metz and the brother of Godefroy Ier the prisoner, count de Verdun (see its ascent).

Faithful to the dynasty saxonne and the emperor Othon I {{er}}, Adalbéron becomes archbishop of Rheims and archichancelier in 969. He makes of Rheims a hearth of intellectual life and artistic radiation. He decorates his cathedral of bronzes and stained glasses. He chooses for écolâtre Gerbert d' Aurillac.

In 969 it east chooses as archi-chancellor by the king Lothaire and it is him which sacring his/her son Louis V, the last Carolingien, in 979. But after the capture of his brother Godefroy by Lothaire with the beginning of the year 985, the king of France shows him a certain disaffection and even treason shows it.

Very divided in the conflict between the Carolingians Lothaire and Louis V, the duke Charles of Low-Lorraine, the emperor Othon II and the duke of the Francs Hugues Capet, he escapes from accuracy from a lawsuit for treason (Compiegne, 985), then with a second lawsuit (Compiegne, 987). Definitively combined Hugues Capet, it governs its royal election and the sacring the July 3rd 987. He crowns also the future Robert II.
