Acutisation
The acutisation , or acute transformation, is the passage of a disease of the chronic state in an acute state.
In Cancerology, the acutisation is the quick change towards an aggravation of the malignity. A cancer which evolved/moved hitherto slowly, worsens and extends quickly. This acute transformation corresponds to the final phase of the tumoral progression.
One often speaks about acutisation in the leukemias which evolve/move initially in a chronic and stable way, then which worsens suddenly and quickly in a few weeks. For example, a chronic Leukemia myéloïde acutise to become a acute Leukemia. Or a chronic lymphoid Leucémie is transformed into malignant lymphoma (Syndrome of Richter).
In other cancers, one also speaks about acutisation when cancer seems " exploser" with the final phase which precedes the death by the patient, with a rapid aggravation and deterioration.
This term is not hold with the oncology, for example in Dermatologie one also speaks about acutisation when a Psoriasis or another Dermatose, until there stable and well control, " flambe" brutally in intensity and extent.
The phase of acutisation of Chronic Myéloïde Leukemia
A chronic Leukemia myéloïde (LMC) acutise to directly become a acute Leukemia either, or after a phase of acceleration. At the time of the phase of acutisation, the general state is degraded severely and a Fièvre appears. A Anemia and an important Thrombopénie appear with the Hémogramme. The Blastose blood and medullary increase quickly until exceeding 20%, which is the criterion of transformation into acute leukemia. The forecast is then particularly severe and the death occurs quickly whatever the methods of treatment.
