Acton Vale
Acton Vale is a city of the Quebec (Canada), founded in 1862, belonging to the MRC of Acton, in the administrative area of the Montérégie.
The population of Acton Vale was of 7.797 inhabitants in 2007 (Source: Decree gouv.). The city had a standardized land value of 427 379 126 $ EDGE in 2007 (Source: MAMR). Its electoral constituency at the provincial level is that of Johnson, while at the federal level it is about Saint-Hyacinthe-Bagot.
Demography
The population of Acton Vale is mainly catholic and French-speaking person with more than 95%. A small English and Nipponese minority fills the remainder. The median Age of the population was 41,9 years in 2007. The population of 7.797 inhabitants was composed of 3.845 men and 3952 women.
In 2006, the rate of diplomation of the young people of less than 19 years was of 70.8%. 25% of the population had less than 20 years. The median income of the households was of 36.320$ and unemployment rate was of 9.2%.
Economy
The economy of the city rests mainly on manufacturing industry, thanks inter alia to Airboss (in the past Acton International) and to Beaulieu Canada (in the past Perless). These two companies employ more than 1000 employees in the area. Agriculture is also a dominating sector of the economy valoise.
The CLD of the area of Acton manages the industrial park municipal of 993.750m2. This last acceuil 26 companies and counted 1060 employees in 2007. The industrial park is occupied to 77,6%. Textile industry, plastic and rubber and of metals are the principal branches of industry.
The city was named industrial Town of Montérégie in 1992.
The area of Acton Vale has two local mediums:

Arts & Culture
The universally known painter Serge Lemoyne was born and died in this municipality. A park with its name was inaugurated in 2003 to underline its contribution.
A house of the Culture was created with the beginning of the year 2000, however it did not last more than five years.
The city proposes several concerts throughout the year. It offers free concerts to the downtown area every Tuesday of summer (Tuesday goods spectacles). Transport
The Town of Acton Vale is cut by the Route 116 and the Route 139. Although Acton Vale has station and railroad, plus any stop has not been carried out for several year. Formerly departures towards Saint-Hyacinthe and Sherbrooke were possible. A cycle track of 79km, the Country one, curves the city and is prolonged until Drummondville.

Sports & Leisures

Education
The city counts four schools under the supervision of the school police chief Jacques Favreau. All these schools form also part of the School commission of Saint-Hyacinthe.

History
The new Town of Acton Vale was founded in 2000 with the fusion of the old Town of Acton Vale and of the municipality of parish of Saint-Andre-in Acton . The old Town of Acton was made up in 1861, a few years after the arrival of a Railroad making possible its opening. The purpose of the railway, connecting Montreal to Portland, Maine, was to connect important manufactures of clothes industry of Tapis that one finds there. Between 1860 and 1875, the mine of Copper Acton to create a great fame for the area, because it was most important to conceal this ore.
The municipality belonged to the Comté of Bagot and since 1982 of the MRC of Acton.
Toponym
The choice of the toponym of Acton Vale, at the time of the proclamation of the canton in 1806, was made remember it a city of the county of the Middlesex in England. Acton Vale is also called Porte of Estrie because of its geographical location. The canton of Acton will be divided into 1864 to give rise to Saint-Theodore-in Acton and to Saint-Andre-Acton. For the latter, the choice was took with an aim of paying homage to Saint Andre, owner of the Écossais.
