Activism paedophile

The activism paedophile gathers people having a sexual and emotional attraction towards the adolescent children and/or the (see Pédophilie, Pédérastie and éphébophilie (hébéphilie)). Its members aim at a certain social acceptance their attractions like, for some of them, of the sexual relationship between Adulte S and children. The movement militates for a removal of various legal and social obstacles against the linked activities with the pedophilia, like the laws criminalisant the sexual activities adult-child, the classification of the pedophilia as a Mental disease or negative perception that with the public opinion of this attraction. They also promote the use of terms like boylove , girllove or childlove to indicate certain forms of Pédophilie, Pédérastie or éphébophilie.

The movement is confronted with a virulent opposition. Although certain professionals propose not to more regard the pedophilia as mental disease, the great majority of the medical community remains opposite with the ideas of the movement according to which certain sexual contacts adult-children would not cause damage with the child. The majority of the countries of the world conform to the specifications of the the United Nations compared to the laws on the sexual Majorité or the childish Pornographie.

In 2005, the movement was especially present in the sphere Anglo-Saxon in Occident. In these countries, the negative public opinion about the movement was in particular constituted compared to certain legal affairs implying some of its members. Elsewhere, for example in France, the movement remained very confidential and far from known general public.

Origins of the movement

Many activists of the movement, inter alia Tom O' Carroll, Frans Gieles or Lindsay Ashford, militate actively against the idea that the children do not have the capacity to grant a sexual relationship - idea however largely shared by a vast majority of people, cultures, professionals of childhood and legal authorities throughout the world. These activists reject the design of the Pédophilie like mental disease - design largely shared in the Anglo-Saxon world but however more moderate in other areas like the France (see the article Pédophilie). They think that this design is a political operation to stigmatize a Sexual orientation considered to be unacceptable.

The activists amongst other things quote Moser and Kleinplatz (2003), which suggest withdrawing all off the Paraphilie S of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual Mental Disorders (DSM), work listing the mental diseases and which makes authority in the USA as regards psychiatry. These authors write that it is too difficult, even impossible, to find objective criteria without any cultural skew to classify such or such sexual behavior like abnormal. However, in the only section of the article concerning the pedophilia, they specify that “our suggestion to withdraw the paraphilies, including the pedophilia, of the DSM does not mean that the sex acts with the children are not criminal… Any interpretation of our work as supporting the sexual relationships adult-child would be false and badly disposed. ”

Terminologies preached by the movement

The members of the movement childlove denounce the stigmatization of terms like paedophile or pederast which contains, at least near the general public in 2005, a strong negative connotation related to the disease (Fagan, 2002), with the exploitation, perversion and the crime. They promote the terms of childlover , boylover and girllover to replace them. These terms were recently popularized near the paedophiles themselves through the virtual communities related to the forums childlove on Internet. Lindsay Ashford in Human Face off Pedophilia ( the human face of the pedophilia ) written:

“Much of people has problems with the word Pédophilie since its direction was deformed so much by the company and the media. It extended to take the direction and the connotation of a bad person and voyeurist who prevails in the public parks. The majority among us have simply any resemblance nor no report/ratio to this Stéréotype, consequently of what we chose to adopt a terminology which describes better what we are. ”

Ashford says that the childlove is “an emotional and spiritual attraction towards the young children who transcends a simple physical or sexual attraction. ”

In fact, there exists a certain ambiguity in the term of paedophile , which does not make distinction between those which are attracted by the children and those which pass to the sex act induced by this attraction. For example, in an article entitled Special Problems with Sexual Deceives Boxes ( specific Problèmes related to the sexual abuse ), Underwager and Wakefield writes:

Although the terms are often used in an interchangeable way, a distinction must be made between “sexual attacker of nonpubescent child” and “paedophile.” First refers to a criminal or punishable sexual behavior, and the second with a abnormal sexual preference. Many paedophiles never act according to their impulses. Contrary all the sexual attackers children are not paedophiles. Any treatment or appraises psychological professional should know this distinction.”

Although they preach the distinction between desire and action, Underwager and Wakefield deplore the made use of their work by the movement childlove.   • To support the movements and organizations which fight for the Droits of the Child.

Those which promote the legalization of the sexual contacts with the children affirm that the inequality of such a relation is not necessarily negative. In Pedophilia: The Radical Puts ( Pédophilie: the radical question ), Tom O' Carroll written:

“the difference of size and being able between a relative and a child creates a potential abuse. But if one bases oneself on the fact that the relations parent-child are generally positive, we admit that the inequality is simply in the nature of the things. I see the relations paedophiles under a similar lighting. ”

Certain paedophiles also say that the sex is not the raison d'être of the relations of the childlove type. In much of country, the age of the sexual Majorité is higher than the age of the Puberté. If a teenager maintains the sexual relationships with an adult between these two ages, this last can be regarded as a sexual attacker - although he is not paedophile.

Principles officially preached by the movement

It is however difficult to know which credit to allot to the official principles presented by these movements. Let us note that so certain groups as MARTIJN preach the respect of the laws, thus discouraging fact the sexual relationships adult-children, others as KRUMME do not have these reserves.

  • J.T was condemned for sexual assault on a child in 1989 then released on word in 1992 with the condition of not having childish pornography. After having moved without informing the authorities of its new address, it was found following an American television program on the search for criminals ( America' S Most Wanted ). It was stopped and condemned for childish pornography. At the time of the lawsuit, the court declared that J.T was member of NAMBLA, that association helped an orphanage in Thailand where children were deceived, and which J.T and other people voyagaient there to meet young boys. The evidence brought was photographs provided by the authority inhabitants of Thailand, showing J.T in company of young Thai boys sitted on him.

  • J.C.P., a New Yorkean having affirmed with the police force, according to the legal files, being member of NAMBLA, was stopped in 2000 and was condemned in 2001 to have made sodomy with a young boy

The publicity made around these incidents, added to the deep opposition of the opinion to the ideas of the movement, led to a great controversy around the activities and of the members of the movement. Many members of the movement took their distances with group NAMBLA and its ideas because of these controversies and the caused crimes.

Recovery by the extreme French line

In France, in the Years 1980 and at the beginning of the Years 1990, of the mediums close to the extreme right-hand side took up on their account certain ideas propédophiles and propédérastes. Discusses on méta-analyzes of Rind, and Al , 1999

In 1999 in the United States took place a great debate around a scientific study which, on this subject, one of is discussed in the medical community: Rind, Tromovitch, and Bauserman, has meta-analytic examination off assumed properties off childsexual deceives using college samples.   • Errors and possible handling of the results: in The Effects off Child Sexual Misuses: How one Rind, Tromovitch, and Bauserman (1998) ( effects of the sexual abuse: comment of Rind, Tromovitch, and Bauserman (1998) ), Dallam, Gleaves, Cepeda-Benito, Silberg, Kraemer and Spiegel write that Rind and Al purely and simply badly interpreted or badly deferred a great number of data of the initial investigations, thus skewing the results. For the BoyLovers , a named blue triangular spiral the " BLogo" in February 1997 by one of the founders of the Childlove movement was drawn on the Net being made call Kalos in partnership with the groups Free Spirits and FPC. The external triangle wants to symbolize the adult and the interior triangle the young boy child or teenager with which it is in love.

A similar logo, a heart inside a pink heart of color, or " GLogo" was developed later by GirlLovers to symbolize a bond in love between adults and young girls.

Finally a third logo, the " CLogo" , was proposed by the Dutch team which created GLogo to represent the aspiration of the " child lovers" in general. However, the members of the movement have opinions mitigated on this last logo and all do not recognize it.
