Active population

The active population is defined as the whole of the people in age to work who are available on the Job market, that they have a Emploi or which they are with the Chômage (people not seeking to work, for example the women (or men) with the hearth, the Rentier S, are thus not included). In general, the age is fixed between 15 and 64 years. One can find definitions of the active population like the whole of the people of more than 15 years.

There does not exist single definition of the active population, which can thus differ from the institutes, organizations, and country to country.

According to ILO

The active population is defined by the International organization of work (ILO) like the whole of the people having between 15 and 64 years and which worked not voluntarily during a week of reference. People having an employment but not exerting it for various reasons, like a leave maternity, as well as the unemployed also form part of the active population.

According to it, the active population is defined as including/understanding all the people of the two sexes above a given age which provide, lasting one specified base period, labor necessary to the production activities (such as reserves in the definition of the production of the system of national accounting). It includes/understands all the people who meet the conditions to be regarded as people equipped with an employment (or not paid employees), as well as the unemployed.
