Acid α-linoleic

The α-linoleic acid (acid alpha-linoleic), noted WENT , is a polyinsaturé Fatty-acid which belongs to the group of the Omega-3. Its chemical formula is C18H30O2 and its molar Masse 278,43 g/mol. In biology, it is called 18:3 (n-3) and its exact chemical formula is cis octadécatriènoïque Δ9,12,15 . It is a Carboxylic acid with a chain of 18 carbon atoms and three double connections Cis; the first of the double connections is positioned on the third carbon atom counted since the end of the noted chain ω.

The α-linoleic acid is a essential Fatty-acid because it belongs to food essential to all the Mammifère S. It is also the principal fatty-acid which composes the membranes Thylakoïde S of the green sheets of the plants. The house plants and also the animals which eat some are sources of this fatty-acid. Certain seeds and thus oils drawn from these seeds are rich WENT from there, in particular the seeds of Colza, Sauge, flax, Chanvre, Soja and the Noix. But the majority of these oils and seeds contain much more Omega-6 which are in competition with the omega-3 at the cellular level, whereas their physiological effects are opposite.

Effects on health

Studies showed that a greater consumption of WENT reduced the risks of cardiovascular diseases, but the concerned mechanism obscure remainder. The body is able to convert the α-linoleic acid into acid éicosapentaènoïque Acide (EPA) and into docosahexaènoïque Acide (DHA), but one does not know which of the three has a beneficial effect against the cardiac arrhythmia. According to some studies, the α-linoleic acid could also intervene in the appearance of the Cancer of the prostate and the macular Syndrome.

Other research gives interesting results In vivo against the Ischémie and certain forms of epilepsy.
