Achterhoek
Achterhoek (in Dutch: “back-corner”) is an area of the east of the Netherlands. It covers the part is province of the Gueldre and part of the Germany. The character of the area is strongly rural.
Geography
The most important cities are: Doetinchem, Winterswijk, Doesburg, Lichtenvoorde, Zutphen and Borculo. Winterswijk is re-elected to be particularly esthetic.
History
Doesburg and Zutphen are cities which belonged to the Hanseatic League.
Economy
The beer Grolsch was initially brewed with Groenlo.
