Achilles Occhetto

Achille Occhetto (born the March 3rd 1936 with Turin -) is a Politician Italy N, Senator.

Biography

Achille Occhetto was the last General secretary - discussed - Italian Communist party (NCV) between 1988 and 1991. He was the craftsman in 1991 end of the NCV, which gave up the term of “Communist” to become the Parti the left Democrats (Partito Democratico della Sinistra - PDS) at the time of his congress of Bologna. The hard tendency of the NCV founded its own party then.

Demolishes by Silvio Berlusconi with the legislative elections of 1994, Occhetto gives up the direction of the party which it had created.

He was elected European Député in 2004 by making an electoral alliance with Antonio Di Pietro, but immediately resigned to be replaced by Giulietto Chiesa which adhered to the group Alliance democrats and liberals for Europe (ADLE) - Chiesa (born on September 4th, 1940, Acqui Terme (Al) is a former communist journalist.

Occhetto is Italian Senator since the May 13rd 2001 (representing the Calabria) where it belongs to the mixed group.
