Achicourt

Achicourt is a common French, located in the department of the Pas-de-Calais and the area Nord-Pas-de-Calais.

Its inhabitants is called Achicouriens, Achicouriennes or Achicourtois, Achicourtoises.

Geography

Achicourt is crossed by the Crinchon, river which fed drinking water Arras.

History

Achicourt was with the departure built around the current downtown area. The first inhabitants of Achicourt were the families Cailleretz and Wache. The city then extended with its city from apartment from or the formation from two districts: new Achicourt and old Achicourt. In the beginning Achicourt was a very country city and which counted at the beginning only farmers. The city was now modernized with the buses of the urban community.

Places and monuments

Achicourt still has a Windmill in activity. The festival of the Mill, local fair organized around a historical topic takes place every year last Sunday of September around the mill.
