Achard saint
Achard saint or St Achaire (+ Sept. 15 687)
Monk of Ension, wire of noble a poitevin, disciple and successor of Saint Philibert de Jumièges and Noirmoutier to the head of a priory which became the Abbey Saint Benoit de Quinçay, founded in 654 close to Poitiers, it succeeded to him then like Abbé of Jumièges. He was for all his monks a father attentive with their daily life and a remarkable spiritual guide.
In its " Chronicle of Arras and Cambrai" , Baldéric analyst of the XI° Century, gives various details on Haspres: " When the Norman ones, under the control of the tyrant devastator King, their chief, exerted their cruelties in the kingdom, as they had done elsewhere, and, to make expier their sins with the Christians, set fire to that and there the churches of the saints. The bodies of Achard Saint and Hugues Saint were brought abbey of Jumièges, located on the Seine, not far from Rouen at the village of Haspres, and were thus withdrawn in this terrible storm. It is not known if the village formed before part of the dependences of the abbey of Jumièges, or so at that time, the king or some other prince, for the safety of his heart, devoted it to be used as retirement with the bodies of the saints. Quite happy Achard, named abbot by Philibert Saint, him even abbot very distinguished from this same cloister, managed its crowned herd and was pointed out by the purity of its manners and the glare of its virtues. Ignited by its piles talks, and yielding to an inspiration sky, the saint man of the lord Hugues, bishop of Rouen, and wire of king Karlemann, renonça with the episcopal government and all the care of the century. Burning desire to embrace the monastic life and uses, it took for model manners of its patron saint, and was illustrated by the perfection of all the virtues. Remainder, one will be able to see clearly, by reading their life, which were these two saints characters. Their bodies remained at the village since then of Haspres; one founded there an abbey and one sent monks to it. God in his kindness and his mercy, condescended to operate, with the glory of these saints, of the so many wonders and so bright, that until today, none the close princes or of those which their forwardings bring in this place dares to require the least contribution of it. The abbot was with a long distance of this herd and, because of this distance, visited only seldom the moines."
St Achaire is born with the country from noble Poitou of parents. It passes a peaceful youth to the monstère of Aniou where it cured the démonïaques ones. It passes religious to old 20 years. Later it makes build a monastery with the glory of the Virgin Mary, under the aegis of the bishop of Poitier St Aussaldus. St Achaire dies on September 15th, 690. It is it should be noted that according to the authors the date of death is not always the same one, it is the same for that of St Hugues.
