History

Previously called Andersen Consulting, the company is resulting from separation in two entities distinct from Arthur Andersen (one of the Big Five ). This scission of the activity makes following the risk of conflicts which the fact can represent simultaneously of exerting the role of countable listener and council in company, risk checked by the bankruptcy of the company Enron, posterior with the separation of the Andersen group in two entities.

The Andersen group is thus divided into two distinct companies: Arthur Andersen which represents the countable branch and Andersen Consulting which works in the council.

Following the development of activities of council by Arthur Andersen, Andersen Consulting requires in 1997 an arbitration in order to separate from Arthur Andersen and common entity Andersen Worldwide. August 7th, 2000, the decision of arbitration is marked. This one largely favorable to Andersen Consulting which can take its independence with respect to Arthur Andersen without paying the least centime of damages, however is required by Arthur Andersen. Only counterpart: Andersen Consulting must change its company name. January 1st, 2001, Andersen Consulting becomes officially Accenture (future contraction of Accent one the ) and launches its new mark to great reinforcement of publicity.

Accenture will be pleased later with this name change which enables him not to undergo the by-effect of the scandal Enron which affects Arthur Andersen and will lead to the repurchase of its various activities by other cabinets (Ernst & Young for the audit in France).

Since September 1st, 2004, CEO of Accenture is William D. Green (Bill). The Web site of the Musée of Louvre was supported by Accenture.
