LAcanthurus leucosternon (or surgeon with chest blanche' ) is a tropical Poisson.
It has at the base of sound caudal Pédoncule a pair of defensive sharp blades. The intensity of its blue dress is revealing of a good state of health.
Because of its size, it is advisable to maintain it in a very large vat. This fish swims unconditionally of an end of the aquarium to the other by grazing the algae. It has an aggressive and territorial temperament. Its interspecific relations are good except at the time of introduction of new boarders or towards other species whose dress is too identical to his.
Certain specimens consume pieces of Néréis, fish flesh, Crevette S, larvae of chironomist S, flesh of moulds, towards grindals, of the Tubifex and the alive or freeze-dried Artémia S. The configuration of their mouth does not enable them to swallow large preys. They eat little but often.
It is very sensitive to the Cryptocaryon irritans, the stress and the skin diseases.
Its acclimatization is difficult and its reproduction observed forever out of aquarium.
